EVER SINCE I first saw a flying Lockheed Martin F-22A in 2006, the aircraft has captured my imagination. Under the control of a pilot who truly knows how to max-perform the aircraft, the Raptor is — arguably — the most feared combat aircraft in the world. A new update will further solidify its position at the top of the food chain.

I’ve been given some incredible opportunities in my career as an aviation photojournalist, and watching the F-22 grow into the aircraft it was always supposed to be is an absolute highlight. Having witnessed Raptor airshow demonstrations countless times, I can honestly say that its best features cannot be illustrated in this public environment. It’s not until you fight with it that you truly understand and appreciate just how eyewatering the jet’s capabilities are — and they just got even better.
