Museum of the Month Kansas National Guard

The Museum of the Kansas National Guard (MKNG) is dedicated to the preservation of the military history of the Kansas Army and Air National Guard.

The Air National represented by an F-4 Phantom, an and an EB-57 Canberra.

The M60 Patton and the M1 Abrams tanks have engines displayed alongside for added interest. For the M60, this is a Continental (now called Teledyne Continental Motors, General Products Division) AVDS-1790-2 V12, air-cooled twin-turbo diesel engine, rated at 750bhp (560kw). The powerplant for the M1 Abrams is a Lycoming and Honeywell AGT 1500 turbine engine, rated at 1,500hp (1,120kw) and 2,750 lbft (3,728 Nm) torque.

Other World War Two vehicles include an M7 Priest 105mm self-propelled gun, M4 and M5 artillery tractors, M37 Dodge 3.4 ton, M135 ‘Deuce and a Half’ truck, M2 halftrack, and an M20 ‘Greyhound’ scout car.
